Child's Play Charity Results

Submitted by 3z - on Jan 04, 2010

Congratulations to everyone on thepwned! We successfully raised $115 for our December charity event - Child's Play (www.childsplaycharity.org)!

Super special thanks goes to the donors who got involved:
- Taco
- Af-1
- Rasta
- Goblin
- Trexx
- McLovin
- Heat
- 3z

I'm also grateful of the many people that wanted to participate, but simply didn't have the means. Even though you couldn't give a monetary donation, it says a lot about your character for wanting to help a stranger in need.

The money collected will be used to purchase video game related stuff (off their wish lists) for some unfortunate kids who can really make good use out of it. Thanks again to the donors for your giving spirit, I'm certain your generosity will be the catalyst for dozens of smiles.

I'll update everyone on what was bought and for what hospital soon. Thanks again thepwned!

You can bring a kid a DS :D

A DS is probably a good choice. I can't decide whether to spend it all for one gift, or 2-3 smaller gifts. Other suggestions are welcome.

Buy one big gift and a bunch of smaller ones.

I've decided that we will support the Children's Healthcare of Atlanta. This hospital is one of the nations leading children's programs in orthopedics, cancer and heart surgery. That means a lot of kids live long periods of time in hospital beds there. With this in mind, I chose to gift them a couple items off their wishlist that I think goes perfectly with these types of recovery patients, who range in age from babies to young adults.

Firstly, with the donation money received by gracious members of thepwned, I purchased the Wii Fit Plus w/ balance board. It's fun, but also helps with rehabilitation to some degree for all sorts of illnesses or injuries. Since that used most of the money, I spent whatever was leftover on packs of Play Doh. This also can be used for rehabilitation of any hand/arm injuries.

Both the Wii Fit and the Play Doh could also help stimulate muscle regrowth after cancer treatments.

Congratulations once again to all those who helped support this awesome event! All the gifts were given in ThePwned's name.
